Wondering how to publish a life story?
It’s a big decision and there’s no ‘right’ answer. It’s what right for you.
What’s certain is you’re going to want to honour the incredible collection of life writing you’ve created. To help you publish your life story in a way that best suits you, we’ve gathered five options for you to consider.
1. Have us create your digital booklet with our free collation service
We get it! Once you’ve completed your individual 12 Stories, you’re going to be excited to see (and share!) the collection of wonderful memories you’ve created. That’s exactly why our free digital booklet collation service is so popular.
It’s a totally stress-free option for you. We take care of the layout and design, so all you need to do is upload your finished stories and images (to the link we provide), and we’ll send you a collated and polished 28-page digital booklet in .pdf file format within seven days.
How our digital booklet service works
Here’s how easy it is:
– Upload each of your stories and images using our simple form (provided to you with your Week 1 resources after project sign-up).
– We compile your stories into a 28-page digital booklet, including a front cover, contents page, introduction/dedication, 12 stories (with up to two images per story), and a back cover.
– We email you the finished booklet as a .pdf file.
Benefits of a digital keepsake
A digital booklet is easy to share with family and friends, has no printing costs, and is a time-saving option. It’s also stress-free since we handle the layout for you—just double-check your files for errors before uploading!
Please note that while we don’t currently offer an in-house printing service to publish a life story, you can easily have your digital booklet printed at Officeworks, Vistaprint, or your local printer if you wish.

2. DIY – Use our 12 Stories Canva Template to publish your life story
For those who enjoy a bit of creativity and who are familiar with Canva, our 12 Stories Canva Template is a fantastic option to publish your completed life stories. This template offers you complete control to customise and collate your stories into a beautifully-organised booklet that you can either keep digitally or print.
Customise and collate your stories
Using our Canva template is simple:
– Replace the existing text and images in the template with your own content for each of your 12 stories.
– Customise to your heart’s content – colours, layout, and organisation of the pages to suit your style.
– Make it as many pages as you want—there’s no limit!
You’ll receive the link to the template with your Week 1 resources (after project sign-up).

Order a printed copy from Canva
Once you’re happy with your creation, you can order a printed copy (or multiple copies) directly from Canva and have it mailed to your address. It’s a fun and flexible way to publish a life story and create a lasting keepsake.
3. DIY – Printing and filing at home
If you prefer a more straightforward approach, consider printing your life story at home and collating it into a folder or filing system. This method allows you to see your collection grow with each week’s story and is a fantastic low-cost option.
How to print and file your life stories
Bringing your stories to life through at-home printing is as simple as it gets:
- Print: As you complete each week’s life writing activity, print that page or pages.
- File: Place your printed page into an A4 display folder or an expandable file, which are readily available from Kmart or Officeworks.
That’s it—two simple steps, and you’re done!
Affordable and accessible supplies
This method requires minimal tech involvement—all you need is a printer, A4 paper, and an A4 display folder or expandable file. It’s also a cost-effective way to preserve your memories. You can add photos and other keepsakes into the pockets for even more memory-sharing.
4. Publish your life story with an external provider
For those who want to go all out, you can upload your completed 12 Stories and images to an external provider who will publish and mail a hard copy of your book to you. This option is perfect if you want to create a professional-looking book that’s ideal for gifting or displaying.
Explore external publishing options
There are several great options to consider for external publishing:

Plus, a handwritten journal is a lovely keepsake that can be passed down through generations.
